  1. Congress controls the strings and restraints of the economy.  The Senate is controlled by Democrats, so the tie breaker is not necessary.  VP useless.

President appoints the Federal Reserve Chairman.

Democrat took control over two years ago, and "changed hope yes they can" !

  2. All the president or VP can do is bring to congress what they want and congress decides what to do with it. CONGRESS not the PRESIDENT or VP has the purse strings. If you want to blame a bad economy on anyone blame it on the Lib congress that's in power. Also states have countrol of their own economies. If you look at it the states that are going under they are Lib states. I live in Texas and were doing pretty good. Oh, by the way, did i mention that we are conservitive.

  3. He will help think up of more profit making  policies and continuation of corruption and theft of the people's money.

  4. The story about Mitt saving the Olympics is phoney. I wish I would have kept track of that but it was near the top he was dropping in his Pres. bid & I just didn't care cause I thought that was the last I would see of him. So someone needs to investigate this. He is an air head who just like McCain was always loaded with money. So how do you learn to manage money if you never need to? Besides do you think he is going to have the nerve to stand up with his 5 or 6 sons & say they are not in the military cause they are being of service helping his campaign? No, they can not tell you how cause non of them know how to do anything except fight & spend, fight & spend.

  5. The only thing that will affect the economy in terms of government is policy.  If the VP can bring effective policy to the table, then it will have an impact on the economy.  I don't know if this applies to Romney, but I think I make a fair point.

  6. I don't think anyone who knows anything about how government works can state the VP or the P for that matter has any direct influence on spending.  That's all controlled by Congress.  The President draws up budget plans that have to be approved by Congress.  He merely creates an "operating guideline" that must be stamped with the Congressional seal of approval.  Secondly, ask the people of Massachusetts about Romneycare.  In the land of the bean, people were given an option when seeking healthcare.  They could elect to pay for it themselves or draw from a pool of money provided by the state collected from taxpayer's money.  This institution is now 500 million in the red and approaching 1 billion.  Why would anyone listen to him for economic answers?  Who's going to pay for something when they can get it for free?

  7. <Grin>  well Cheney certainly has been an active vice president!!  He may not have helped the economy but he certainly helped himself to our tax dollars using his influence to get Halliburton all those no bid contracts.  He met with the major energy producers in January 2001 and made sure they new how to game California's deregulated electric market, stealing billions from california rate payers.

As far as any single branch of government having a great effect on the economy.  The executive branch has the more direct immediate effect.  There are regulatory tweaks that can be used if he so desires, there are ways a leader finds to get legislation passed, as opposed to throwing hissy fits and screaming 'they won't do things my way!"

Stoping the regulators from doing their job is a good way to let large firms drive the economy down the tubes.
