Sinead Russell conquers Women's 200m freestyle title: Day three – 2011 Canada Cup, Toronto
Sinead Russell of DS conquered gold medal of the Women's 200m freestyle on last day of the 2011 Canada Cup in Toronto, on Sunday, November 27.
The 18-year-old Russell impressed the aquatic crowd by wining gold medal of the four-lap freestyle event in a stupendous time of 1 minute and 59.70 seconds. Her gold winning effort was 1.84 seconds under the Canadian mark of 2 minutes and 01.54 seconds,
owned by Erica Morningstar of CP from 2007.
The gold medallist remained prominently ahead of her following swimmer Lindsay Delmar of UCSC, who ended second. The 18-year-old Delmar remained 1.51 seconds behind the champion and reached the podium for silver medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and
00.21 seconds.
The silver medallist was nearly half a second ahead of Lauren Earp of ESWIM. The 17-year-old Earp remained 0.58 seconds behind her former finisher and stepped on the podium for bronze medal by submitting an effort of 2 minutes and 00.79 seconds.
With her dazzling efforts, Earp remained considerably ahead of her team-mate, Amanda Reason. The 18-year-old Reason was 1.59 seconds behind third position holder and settled on the finishing wall with a fourth fastest timing of 2 minutes and 02.38 seconds.
The fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Victoria Chan of RHAC predators, who stayed 0.52 seconds behind her former finisher and surfaced on the concluding wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 02.90 seconds.
The 16-year-old Chan remained 1.19 seconds ahead of her closet competitor, Brean Hendriks of UCSC, who ended her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 04.09 seconds for sixth position.
The 22-year-old Hendriks was only 0.91 seconds ahead of Paige Schultz of TSC on the finishing end. The 20-year-old Schultz completed her swim in the seventh fastest time of 2 minutes and 05.00 seconds.
In the meantime, Tabith Baumann of Go Kingfish appeared on the finishing end for the eighth fastest spot. The 16-year-old Baumann completed his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 05.06 seconds.
In addition, the championship concluded after the completion of all scheduled events.
