Sinead Russell pockets Women’s 50m freestyle title in Toronto: 2011 Canada Cup
Sinead Russell claimed yet another gold medal in the Women’s 50m freestyle meet at the second evening session of the 2011 Canada Cup, in Toronto, Ontario, on Saturday, November 26.
In the final encounter, Sinead Russell knocked out her strongest challengers of the arena by thrashing the finishing blockade in a scintillating blot of 25.92 seconds to win the Women’s 50m freestyle title. In the meantime, Lemire Lapierre went on to clinch
the silver medal in the respective race by claiming the finishing barricade in a time of 26.02 seconds and the bronze title went to Marie Ratelle in a spot of 26.28 seconds.
Miche Williams grabbed fourth position in the respective meet by thrashing the finishing barricade in an impressive spot of 26.36 seconds, while the fifth place honour went to Rebecca Guy in a time of 26.37 seconds, respectively. In addition, Aria Mainville
earned sixth position by thumping the finishing fence in a time of 26.42 seconds, whereas, the seventh spot went to Lauren Earp in a time of 26.52 seconds. Last, but not the least, Nicole Cossey got eighth position in the respective swim by claiming the finishing
blockade in a time of 26.56 seconds.
On the other hand, the Women’s 50m freestyle B final heat was taken over by Victoria Chan in a winning mark of 26.55 seconds. Fiona Doyle and Amanda Reason finished second in the respective meet by claiming the finishing blockade in a matching time of 26.60
seconds, whereas, the fourth place went to Janet Gamble in a spot of 26.66 seconds.
In the meantime, Octavian Petre clinched the Men’s 50m freestyle title by banging the finishing blockade in a winning time of 23.20 seconds. Martyn Forde earned silver title in the respective race by claiming the finishing barricade in a time of 23.27 seconds,
while the bronze title went to Mate Maciuniak and Tom Miller in a matching mark of 23.31 seconds.
Jeremy Kubik earned fifth position by thrashing the finishing divider in a time of 23.85 seconds, while the sixth place went to Martel Massie in a mark of 24.05 seconds. Moreover, Alex Loginov got seventh spot in a time of 24.13 seconds and Joe Ur settled
at eighth place in 24.24 seconds.
The Men’s 50m freestyle B final heat was clinched by Tsuba Nakagawa in a time of 24.10 seconds. Eric Beaton got second position in the respective splash by thrashing the finishing blockade in a time of 24.22 seconds, while the third place honour went to
Daniel Ramirez in a spot of 24.27 seconds, respectively. The 2011 Canada Cup is offering a great opportunity to all the young guns of Canada to prepare well for next year’s Olympic Games.
