Sing like Miley?

Question

I keep hearing and reading all these things about Miley Cyrus's singing and I wanted to know if it was true.

It said something like if you

start to mimick [Spelling?] her, how she talks and how she sings you'll eventually start to sound like her. Is that true?

Its kinda p*ssin me off lol that I keep hearing it so yeah thats why I wanna know.

I don't think so. You might be able to match her pitch tendencies, her pronunciations, or her overall style. As for Timbre, I don't think that you will 'match' her.

Find your own voice. That is what I teach my students.

Well i can just tell you this.It is not true.Ypour singing voice is made by your vocal cords and they are way different in every person.So it is imposoble to ever sound like her.I am only 11 and i do know a lot about this kind f stuff!

Yeah, uh, I don't know where you heard that from, but i think its a little far fetched sounding don't you think? Its really hard to change your voice. Its easy to do impressions of people but you will never get stuck doing it forever. But what do you mean like miley? Mileys voice sounds pretty normal to me. She has a very very tiny slight accent, no biggie.

Of course you can mimic her. I don't know what people are talking about when they say that you have your own vocal timbre (tone of voice) and you can't change it. Many people make their living mimicking others and there's a lot you can learn from it. Miley Cyrus doesn't even have that unique of a voice, I'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard for a lot of girls to make a pretty good impersonation of her. The key is to experiment with your voice, make different types of tones, especially heavy chest tones, and that will lead you on the right path.
