Singapore Hockey Federation – Mark Chay appointed as new CEO
A former National and Olympian swimmer named Mark Chay has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by the Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) on February 23 as Chay will undertake his duties from March 1.

Chay formerly used to manage Intergovernmental projects at the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise for countries in Middle East, Latin America and North Africa. Later he became the spokesperson for the Singapore Swimming Association (SSA). He was also a key associate
of the High Performance Team and committee member of both the International Swimming Federation FINA and the Arena Swimming World Cup Organising Committee.
At present, Chay is found to be working as a Council Member of the Singapore Bowling Federation (SBF) and a member of Olympians Singapore’s Organising Committee. Moreover, he holds a directorship with Coleman College, delivering lectures at the International
Sports Academy (ISA). In addition to all of this, he is an effective associate of the National Faculty of the United States Sports Academy.
At the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, Chay represented Singapore and has also won gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games (SAF).
The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Singapore Sports Council (SSC) awarded him the titles Sportsboy of the Year (2000) and then Sportsman of the Year (2001) based on his outstanding performance and achievements in swimming.

He was also given the All-American honours from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All four years in the Mountain West Conference, Chay was awarded the Academic First-Team honours for four consecutive years.
Chay will be looking to make an impact for the Singapore Hockey Federation. His vast experience and knowledge will definitely give an edge to hockey in Singapore. It will be interesting to see what he can do to promote an increase the awareness of hockey
in Singapore as currently it is not as dominant as it is in Malaysia and Indonesia. Chay will probably begin restructuring the entire hockey setup in Singapore to get a fresh start and work from the ground up. The Singapore Hockey Federation has picked a very
experienced and dedicated athletic professional.
