Singapore’s top shuttler Mingtian Fu lived up to expectations as she eased into Women’s Singles semi-final after showing a great performance in quarter-final contest when she thrashed Thailand’s Chochuwong Pornpawee at the Singapore International Series
2012 in Singapore, on Thursday, August 16.
The impressive Mingtian, who is top seed in Women’s Singles draw in the tournament, delivered a solid performance leaving no room for her lower ranked Thai opponent and easily wrapped up victory in a commanding fashion.
The top seeded Mingtian was one class above her rival in all aspects of badminton as she played with confidence and kept her rival under pressure all the way to end up the battle in straight games with a stunning difference on score board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Chochuwong could not match the pace of rallies and remained helpless against the staggering show put up her higher ranked local opponent. She lost this quarter-final battle without showing a considerable performance.
The opening game of this contest was completely one-sided when Mingtian played dominating badminton and cheered her home fans by showing her wonderful skills on court.
The higher ranked Singaporean shuttler played with tremendous precision and manipulated all loopholes of her rival.
Until the mid-game interval in opening set, the in-form Mingtian grabbed a remarkable lead on score board without showing mercy to her challenger.
After the break, the Singapore shuttler continued her roller-coaster performance without facing any interruption from her Thai opponent and eventually remained successful in bagging the opening set with a staggering 21-6 margin on score board.
The following game was somewhat tight as Chochuwong lifted up her level of play and matched the pace of rallies which helped her to stay close to her rival on score board until the interval.
After the one-minute break, Mingtian played attacking badminton and pushed her rival on back foot with her accurately placed shots.
The impressive Singaporean player ended up the second set with a comfortable 21-15 difference on score board.
Mingtian easily registered a comprehensive victory over Chochuwong in straight games with a smashing margin of 21-6 and 21-15.
