Singapore International Series: Mingtian Fu tames Ningrum Tike Arieda in first round encounter
Singapore’s Mingtian Fu got a tremendous start in Women’s Singles first round as she easily tamed Indonesia’s Ningrum Tike Arieda at the Li-Ning Singapore International Series 2012 at Singapore, on Wednesday, August 15.
The World Number 29 Mingtian, who is positioned at the top in Women’s Singles main draw of the event, played at her best speed and controlled the whole contest to chuck out her lower ranked rival in an emphatic fashion.
The top seeded Mingtian was in commanding position on court as she dictated the rallies and easily punished her Indonesian opponent in straight games with a stunning 21-9 and 21-14 margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Ningrum tried to play competitive badminton but she was helpless against the incredible speed and impressive shot selection. She could not cope up with the pace of rallies and lost the battle with a one-sided margin.
In the first set, Mingtian started her campaign in a controlled and dominating manner as she played with aggression and took an early lead without employing all of her skills.
The aggressive Mingtian did not slow down her speed and moved her rival in all areas which helped her to set up a highly convincing lead of 21-9.
After taking rest for one minute, Mingtian continued her tremendous run on court by forging fast rallies and remained successful in finishing off the opening set of this contest with a stunning difference of 21-9.
In the following set, Ningrum also played slightly fast badminton as she started to take the bird early and remained close to her higher ranked challenger in opening rallies.
However, the local shuttler geared up the pace of the game by employing powerful smashes and accurate pushes.
The top seeded Singaporean shuttler easily managed a wonderful gap on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Mingtian continued showing up her remarkable skills on court and she did not allow her rival to close the gap at any stage.
The impressive execution of powerful shots helped Mingtian to end up the second game with a 21-14 score on the board.
