Singapore International Series: Semi-final round entry for Chun Chieh and Yen Jui– Badminton News

Men’s Doubles team Chun Chieh Liao-Yen Jui Lin of Chinese Taipei played flawless badminton and secured berth in semi-finals of Li-Ning Singapore International Series on Thursday, August 16, 2012.
They unseated Zhao Jiang Terry Yeo-Liu Yi by registering favourable figures 21-13, 16-21 and 21-18.
They looked in prime touch throughout this 50-minute tussle and locked the honour by proving themselves superior in opening and closing segments of the encounter.
Meanwhile, the opposing team could live its moment of glory only in the middle of the battle and surrendered after facing a 1-2 defeat.
The Taipei campaigners made their intentions clear in very first set of the match as they enthralled their challengers with a decisive lead of eight points in final total.
They set the ball rolling by snatching some valuable points in a row and maintained this difference throughout the opening game.
At half time, Chun Chieh and Yen Jui were enjoying the upper hand with figure of 11 on points table. They did not lose their authority and dictated to their competitors throughout the match.
The twosome of Zhao Jiang and Liu Yi strived hard to come out of this deficit but they could not hit the mark and knelt down after reading 13-21 score on the board.
However, they managed to save some honour in the second set. This time they put laudable effort and turned their rivals’ plan of a straight-set victory into dust. They unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and cornered the opposing team.
The Singaporean shuttlers started making progress with few uninterrupted rallies and established an unassailable lead. They doubled the impact in later part of the game and bagged second set with 21-16 margin.
At this stage, both teams were just one step away either from a semi-final round entry or woeful exit.
They put all in their possession to oust their opponent but neither could make a difference until final phase of the game.
Finally, Chun Chieh and Yen Jui stole the show with a dazzling performance of 21-18 and surged into round of four where they will be swinging arms against Rahmat Adianto-Angriawan Berry.
