Singapore International Series: Yong Zhao Ashton Chen crushes Dharma Alrie Guna in semi-final clash
Singapore’s in-form player Yong Zhao Ashton Chen stretched his winning run and eased into Men’s Singles final after crushing his lower ranked rival Dharma Alrie Guna of Indonesia in semi-final clash at the Singapore International Series 2012 in Singapore, on Friday, August 17.
The passionate Yong Zhao, who is top seed in Men’s Singles draw of the event, played controlled badminton and easily overpowered Dharma Alrie who was the third seeded player in the main draw.
The higher ranked Yong Zhao was on a different level as he did not let his home fans down by putting up wonderful show of attacking badminton and easily wrapped up victory by beating his opponent in straight games with an inspiring margin.
In the meanwhile, the third seeded Dharma Alrie failed to stretch his winning run in the tournament as he could not put up strong resistance against his local opponent and lost the battle without creating a strong impact.
The top seeded Yong Zhao found a perfect start in first game when he played with aggression and remained positive in his shots.
The local shuttler commanded the rallies with his impressive craft and took a comfortable lead until the mid-game interval in opening set.
After the break, Dharma Alrie tried to narrow the gap by playing attacking game but failed to destroy the impressive defence of Yong Zhao who was quite comfortable on court.
Singaporean shuttler was in full swing in the concluding half of first set and he did not take much time in ending it with a superb 21-15 score on the board.
In the following set, Yong Zhao continued his smooth ride without having any considerable interruption from his lower ranked Indonesian opponent.
The impressive Yong Zhao took a strong lead on score board until the end of first half.
After the one-minute interval, Yong Zhao remained consistent in his positive play and easily finished off the set by a striking 21-14 margin on the score board.
The top seeded Yong Zhao cheered his home fans by winding up the match in just 35 minutes with a smashing difference of 21-15 and 21-14.
