Singapore International series: Yin Fun Lim sends Wan Yi Tang packing in first round showdown
Yin Fun Lim, a budding shuttler from Malaysia, showed her elevated class as she put up staggering show and sent Chinese Taipei’s Wan Yi Tang in Women’s Singles first round at the Li-Ning Singapore International Series 2012 on Wednesday, August 15, in Singapore.
The talented Malaysian shuttler was in commanding position on court as she showed a wonderful performance while playing against Wan Yi and thrashed her in straight games without showing any mercy.
Yin Fun was in full swing while playing in the opening game of the tournament and she proved her mettle by stamping her mark over Wan Yi by finishing off the match in just 36 minutes.
The Taipei shuttler, in the meanwhile, could not do anything to stop the aggression of her Malaysian opponent and crashed out in the opening round of the tournament by losing the match to Yin Fun in straight sets without proving her skills.
The in-form Yin Fun started her run in the first game in a confident and gutsy manner and remained positive in her strokes.
The Malaysian shuttler was in complete control of rallies as she put her rival in all sorts of trouble and eventually took a reasonable lead on score board until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Yin Fun injected more power into her strokes as she was quick in getting behind the bird in rear court area and managed to maintain her upper hand on court.
Yin Fun did not commit mistakes in the concluding phase of opening game and won the set with a remarkable 21-17 score on the board.
In the second set, Wan Yi changed her tactics from the opening points and did not allow her rival to set up lead this time.
However, until the mid-game break, it was the talented Yin Fun who took a reasonable lead on score board.
After the break, Yin Fun became aggressive and executed powerful smashes to push her rival on back foot. She was on a different level in the ending phase and took the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
The impressive Yin Fun ended up this Women’s Singles first round battle in straight games with a comfortable score of 21-17 and 21-17.
