Singapore: Monty achieves the cut in pain

The third round of the Barclays Singapore Open 2010 is being held today at the Serapong and Tanjong GC whose current leader board is being led by Adam Scott with a minus 13.With Scott at the apex, two shots behind the leader, Ian
Poulter stands with minus 11 at the second hole.
The third place is currently a tie between Rikard Karlberg, Graeme McDowell and Joost Luiten with a minus 10. At minus 6, Colin Montgomerie grabs the T18 who according to recent reports is still experiencing a little pain from
his accident last month.
Monty was driving his own car when a van crashed into him. The forty seven year olds car was then hit by a lorry and then another car as his vehicle started spinning out of control. Montgomerie says that during the whole episode
he had been unable to do anything since the air bags were pushing him back and restricting his motion.
“I was pulled to safety when one driver pulled me out of the car” Montgomerie said.
The forty seven year old sustained bruises on his left side and fortunately experienced only minor injuries. The after effects of which are said to bother him this week in Singapore.
Montgomerie had been 2010’s Ryder cup skipper from Europe’s side and stood eight strokes behind the leader Adam Scott at the second round of the event.
According to reports, the former Ryder Cup captain had to call in medics on the course for his treatment in Singapore when the second round was under way.
‘Actually, I think I’m not supposed to be here,’ said Montgomerie.
Monty recorded a 68 that allowed him to make the cut but still held an 8 shot deficit behind the Australian leader, Scott in R2.
According to rumours, when the van hit Monty’s car, his Hip had been bruised rather badly which made his walk terrible. Montgomerie tells that he had to call a doctor out on the field after taking permissions by the organisers.
The doctors then handed him some painkillers that subdued the pain’s intensity a bit.
Even though Monty had faced a bad pain stint on the course, he still managed to achieve the cut he desired. The golfer tells that he is very happy to make the cut and said that it isn’t bad to be the oldest player on the Tour.
