Singapore Open 2012: Anneke Feinya, Nitya Krishinda impress en route to quarter-finals
Women’s Doubles experts Anneke Feinya Agustin and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari grabbed all the attentions by beating Jung Kyung Eun-Kim Ha Na en route to quarter-finals of Li Ning Singapore Open on June 21, 2012.
The victorious duo, which belongs to Indonesia, played with right attitude and fortitude in this 62-minute tussle as they locked the honour with 14-21, 21-15 and 23-21.
They enthralled second seeded Korean duo in last two segments of the show and alarmed the compatriot pair Meiliana Jauhari-Greysia Polii, their next challengers in round of eight.
In pre quarter-final contest, Jung Kyung-Kim Ha had a perfect start as they clinched opening match point with great ease.
Though, World Number six pair was bit sluggish in start and remained equal until 5-5 but they picked up speed later and reached 9-5 by gathering four consecutive points. They maintained this initial lead all the way to mid-game break and placed a decent
total of 11-7.
After the interval, the opposing team showed some depth in the game and narrowed the gap at one stage but Jung Kyung and Kim Ha regained the control with couple of good rallies.
They gathered five points in a row and wrapped the show with a staggering margin of 21-14.
However, they could not carry this rhythm in next game and allowed their rivals to level the match score.
The Indonesian girls followed an effective strategy and ruled the court in most part of this crucial game.
Women’s Doubles partners Anneke Feinya and Nitya Krishinda set the ball rolling when they piled up a respectable total of 8-5 in the beginning. They continued with same momentum until final stage of the set.
They pocketed six out of last seven points and bagged second game with a notable margin of 21-15.
The decider was filled with lot of action as the Korean duo Jung Kyung-Kim Ha was looking to save their honour but they could not stop their competitors from sealing a splendid victory.
Both teams remained toe-to-toe until 21-21 but the Indonesian couple showed strong character in this tense situation and stole the limelight with concluding figure of 23-21.
