Singapore Open 2012: Juliane Schenk ensures her presence in semi-final round – Badminton News
Women’s Singles expert Juliane Schenk of Germany trounced Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in quarter-finals of Li Ning Singapore Open and marched into semi-final round on June 22, 2012.
The victorious shuttler consumed energies for 56 minutes and emerged as Champion with final figures of 21-12, 9-21 and 21-19.
World Number six Juliane will now face Korean campaigner Sung Ji Hyun in second last round of this Super Series tournament.
Earlier in the round of eight, she employed unbeatable strategy and outclassed her challenger technically and tactically.
On the other hand, Thai girl could only taste success in second set of the match and bid farewell to the event.
The first set of this contest completely belonged to German shuttler who dominated from very first shot to the last one.
She unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes straight away in the beginning and placed a notable margin of 6-0 on the board.
She did not show mercy in next couple of rallies and finished first half with a huge difference of 10 points.
Later part of the game started with Porntip striving hard to narrow the gap but she could match the game speed of her opponent.
Juliane left her far behind by staying nine steps ahead until finishing point. She won this segment of race with a decisive figure of 21-12.
Next game was also played at same speed and but result was different this time. The Thai shuttler mounted pressure by clinching eight consecutive points in no time. She maintained this momentum to put up a mountainous total of 11-5.
After mid-game break, Porntip added more intensity in her attack and reached at a formidable position of 18-8.
The opposing player could not come out of this deficit and surrendered after reading concluding margin of 9-21.
However, third set was not flat like previous two games as both contenders made this segment memorable with their breath-taking performance.
In first half, the German lady enthralled her challenger with 11-8 total but she committed unforced errors in later part which resulted in 17-19 score in final moments.
Juliane did not lose her nerves in this tense situation and gathered last four points to enter winning margin of 21-19.
