Singapore Open: Robert Blair and Bin Shen Tan find a perfect start in Men’s Doubles qualifying round
Scotland’s Robert Blair and Malaysia’s Bin Shen Tan found a perfect start in Men’s Doubles qualifying round as they overpowered local shuttlers Hendri Kurniawan Saputra and Hendra Wijaya at the Singapore Open Super Series 2012 in Singapore, on Tuesday, June 19.
The Scottish-Malaysian pair of Blair and Bin Shen put up superb show of dominating badminton while playing against the Singaporean opponents and won the battle easily without giving away even a single set.
Blair and Bin Shen proved formidable for the local shuttlers in this Men’s Doubles contest as they were too strong in all aspects of the game and won the battle easily in two games by spending even less than half an hour.
On the other hand, Saputra and Wijaya could not prove their mettle in front of their home fans as they failed to play fast badminton effectively and lost to Blair and Bin Shen easily with a huge margin on the score board.
In the first set, both pairs started the rallies in an aggressive fashion and also played well at net. The score remained close at the initial stage but Blair and Bin Shen took over the control soon and managed a reasonable lead over their Singaporean opponents until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Blair and Bin Shen extended their lead without showing any sign of mercy to their rivals and eventually got advantage in the match by winning the first set with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the second game, Blair and Bin Shen did not stop their progressive advancement in the court as they maintained the pace of rallies at the highest level and again took a smashing lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Blair and Bin Shen continued their smooth sailing without facing any problem in the court and stretched their lead easily.
The Scottish-Malaysian shuttlers showed their positive skills in the whole concluding part and wrapped up the game with an even better margin of 21-13.
Blair and Bin Shen won this Men’s Doubles qualifying round match by taking just 27 minutes with a convincing 21-15 and 21-13 score on the board.
