Singapore Open Super Series: Bao Yixin and Zhong Qianxin take Women’s Doubles title
China’s Bao Yixin and Zhong Qianxin proved their higher class and won the Women’s Doubles title after beating Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Wen Hsing and Chien Yu Chin in the final encounter of Singapore Open Super Series 2012 on Sunday, June 24, in Singapore.
The World Number 5 Yixin and Qianxin, who were also ranked at number five in Women’s Singles main draw of the event, proved too strong for the sixth seeded Wen Hsing and Yu Chin and wrapped up a sensational victory.
The higher ranked Yixin and Qianxin lived up to expectations in the final contest where they proved their worth against the Taipei opponents by ending up the contest in straight games in 39 minutes.
The World Number 11 Wen Hsing and Yu Chin, on the other hand, could not continue their impressive winning performance in the tournament as they lost their focus against their higher ranked Chinese opponent and bowed down in the final battle without taking any game.
Yixin and Qianxin started their performance in an interesting manner as they played aggressive and controlled badminton by taking the bird early at net and pushed their Taipei opponents on back foot.
Until the one-minute interval in this title match, Yixin and Qianxin were in strong position as they maintained a wonderful gap by reaching 11-6.
After the break, the higher ranked Yixin and Qianxin continued putting up thrashing show by keeping a firm grip over the pace of rallies and ended up the set with a spectacular margin of 21-12.
In the second game, Wen Hsing and Yu Chin played with confidence as they did not let their Chinese opponents to dominate the pace of rallies this time. Until the interval, the Taipei ladies remained ahead 11-8.
After the interval, the Chinese tried to narrow the gap by making hasty shots but failed to bridge the gap and remained behind 8-14.
At this stage, Yixin and Qianxin played composed game by controlling the pace and started to reduce the deficit. They put in extra effort and made the score levelled by reaching 15-15.
Yixin and Qianxin continued their positive play in the concluding phase of second game and won it with a superb margin of 21-17.
The in-form Yixin and Qianxin grabbed Women’s Doubles title by ending up the final encounter with a 21-12 and 21-17 score on the board.
