Singapore Open Super Series: Petya Nedelcheva ousts Lindaweni Fanetri in Women’s Singles first round
Bulgaria’s talented player Petya Nedelcheva showed her brilliance in Women’s Singles first round when she overpowered Indonesia’s Lindaweni Fanetri at the 2012 Singapore Open Super Series on Wednesday, June 20, in Singapore.
The in-form Bulgarian was in a different mood while playing in her opening battle in the tournament and managed to win the experienced Indonesian opponent in an epic three-set battle.
Petya took the opening game in a striking way but lost the second game to her challenger. However, she remained lucky in winning the final set with a dramatically tight score on the board.
Lindaweni, on the other hand, found a shocking treatment from her Bulgarian opponent in the first game but fought back to level the score by taking the second set. Nevertheless, she could not finish off the ending points of deciding game and lost the battle
with a close margin.
In the first game, Petya gave a severe lesson to her Indonesian rival by playing aggressive and flawless badminton. She took a huge lead of 11-3 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Bulgarian continued her killing run against Lindaweni and took advantage in the match by wrapping up the opening game with an impressive ease by a stunning margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Lindaweni played better badminton this time as she remained close to her in-form Bulgarian opponent until the one-minute interval.
After the one-minute break, both ladies remained consistent on the score board until 14-14 when Petya lost her focus and conceded seven consecutive points to lose the set with a big margin of 14-21.
In the decider, Lindaweni played impressive badminton as she dictated the pace of rallies and also took a wonderful lead of 11-4 until the break.
After the interval, Petya changed her strategy and played to her maximum speed by taking the bird early. She remained successful in bridging the huge gap by reaching at 13-13.
Lindaweni again played positive badminton and got four match points by reaching at 20-16 but failed to finish it off as her rival came from behind and took the set by scoring six consecutive points and ended up the game with a margin of 22-20.
Petya won this Women’s Singles battle in a dramatic way by finishing it off with a superb 21-11, 14-21 and 22-20 score on the board.
