Singapore airlines hand luggage....?

I'm flying with singapore airlines next week, but im confused about their hand luggage rules - if anyone has flown with them can u help me?

I usually take a small hand trolley/suitcase as hand luggage and fill it with my heaviest items - shoes/jeans etc. In the past this has never been queried or weighed and ive gotten away with a hefty case..........

On singapore airlines website they say that you can take one piece not weighing more than 7kg (so light) Has anyone ever had their hand luggage weighed - Im travelling to Sydney.

Also, the web states that 1 picec has constituted a hand trolly, a handbag, a briefcase - is this all together - so i can have my case and a handbag??

Sorry for all the travelling questions - just so much i wanna take and the weight of checked baggage is so light.......but i dont wanna be told to dump a load of stuff at the airport as im travelling alone!

Cheers again!!!

  1. Once piece of hand luggage is a total of one not one plus handbag - the only exception to this is medical equipment, wheelchair or medication which by law is excluded. but if you CAN put your handbag in the bigger bag and the combined item still pass then that's OK.

They DO weigh your hand luggage and if you are slightly over  they often let it go unless your check baggage is over as well then you get asked to pay if its more than 1kg.

also the size limits for hand luggage have REDUCED do trolley suitcases are probably now too large  and it MUST fit inside the luggage size guide at checking AND the gate (without the size reducing insert being remove but you may squash it to get it to fit.0)

Also the rules about where to place electronic equipment changes daily but mostly its hand luggage so it can be personally checked - placing it in hold bags can mean them being delayed or even the items stolen by baggage handlers (a big UK problem not singapore though).

  2. I travelled to Sydney 2 years ago with Singapore. We were only allowed one piece of hand luggage so I took a large handbag, and yes it was weighed. I noticed a couple of lads in the next queue who had to put a load of their hand luggage into their main luggage. However, one point to note my luggage was overweight going out and seriously over weight coming back and I didn't have to pay any extra.

  3. I flew with this airline in June  hand luggage roughly the size of a lap top bag and they weight it family in front of me had to get rid of the weight or pay extra

  4. most airlines have 7-8 kgs hand baggage only.  whilst some airlines are strict, singapore isnt.  but it could also depends on the port of boarding - i know they were a pain at perth australia airport for me - but genberally are good
