  1. It is similar award in many countries, nowadays and the great different is how much to US$.  As said by one who answered, is a reward of honour and is priceless.

    The money will secure the gold medallist for life so that he/she can devote whole heartedly in contributing  the service to the country in helping to bring up more golds.


  2. 1 million Singapore dollars??? Hmmm.... after tax back by the government (that is considered earnings by the way)... left with nothing.... NOT WORTH IT...

    As the participant will have to do hard work to get it and will carry country's flag and will be known by the world on what he have done! So I will say to praise him/her on her deed say good idea.

  5. Yes, it's like to 'pay' you for the loss of income when you go for the vigorous trainings, or the numerous times you have to take leave of absence from your work in order to go for the trainings.

  8. it too low, in Thailand a Thai get about S$16 millions for a gold medal

  9. well, that's one of the government principles i guess.. I just studied it.. Reward for work, i think.
