Singing Bird to retain form for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Brownstown Stakes (Fillies)
Connections are anticipating that the three-year-old brown filly, Singing Bird, will steer back the performance in the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Brownstown Stakes (Fillies) to what she displayed in the previous race. The expectation
of her dominating the seven furlong track at Naas on Wednesday, 11th July is based on the impressive deliverance in her career debut.
Raising the bar of the competition are four other three-year and above contenders who will take their chances with the €50,375 prize money at stake.
The David Wachman trained filly has already taken up her spot in the league of those runners who do not let go off their first chance at breaking the maiden. She won the P. G. Duffy & Sons Citroen Maiden on 7th May, 2012 at Curragh over seven
furlongs. With twenty-one contenders in the field, W. J. Lee’s mount was eighth when there were still two more furlongs to go. She took that position up to second in the final furlong, and then held on firmly to her stamina which got her the 1 ½ lengths lead.
Imaginationrunwild settled as the runner-up of the race and was joined by, Hi Emperor. The evening’s favourite, Qasser, caught up with the fourth position.
The impressive entry into the racing career got her a spot in the Group 3 Ballycorus Stakes on 14th June, 2012 at Leopardstown over seven furlongs. The good to soft track was dominated by the favourite entry, Alanza, who won by a mere neck’s margin.
Marvada settled second while Glor Na Mara filled up the third slot behind the winner.
Singing Bird under jockey, Wayne Lordan, could only manage the fourth ranking.
The three-year-old Irish filly out of mare, Anna Deesse, today has another shot with graded stakes company and should make the most out of the 6 to 1 chances at her back. She will become the mount for the same jockey and the duo will break from the third
gate.
Marvada and After have scored second in their most recent trips and can pose as threats for Singing Bird. The 5 to 6 entry, After, from the stables of Aidan O’Brien also enjoys the edge of drawing the first stall, and will be accompanied by Joseph O’Brien.
