Singing :] I am very critical of my voice [vid]?

Question

Hey Iv asked a few questions on here about what songs to sing and I take them in account and I do sing them to put on my youtube channel however I am really critical of my voice and I always think its not good enough.

is there anything I can do?

to think I am good? or to stop panicing and putting myself down?

you have a lovely voice - there are so many famous singers out there who can't sing that well live, so well done.

the only problem is if you have done/are doing your grade 6 why do you keep going on about how bad you are? Also, why would you put vids up if you were bad.

Heya,

There is no doubt that you have the voice to start thinking about being a paid vocalist (for some types of music). However, having the 'voice' isn't really enough. You need great stage skills, well trained ear for harmony.. but most importantly.. you need to ba able to sell yourself to people. (it's tough, but it needs to be done.. especially of you are just starting to build a reputation)

If you can, you should invest in some studio time, sing to a few backing tracks (this should cost around £50 for 2 songs).

Send your stuff to local restaurants and offer to sing for a small fee (and food)... you need to get out there to be noticed/gain performance technique/confidence etc...

Advertise in your local area for a guitarist/keys player.. you can then offer 100% live music to places like pubs/bars etc... you can also enter open-mic's.

If you are doing music at school/college, try and get into a music school or do music at Uni. This will help you meet more people that will further your opportunities.. it will also help with confidence and your knowledge of the industry as a whole.

Also.. you have a lovely voice for the types of songs you post on youtube.. but try and expand your repertoire of songs.. the more styles that you can tackle.. the more you will be in demand as a vocalist.

you put a video on about two weeks ago didn't you? i think i said the last song didn't suit your voice.

but this is totally the right kind of song for your voice, you are brilliant especially if you had a cold as well, i was blown away

you need to stop knocking yourself back, too much modesty can stand in your way.  give yourself a break you should be very proud of yourself

Your an amazing singer! Yeah I would just say, to stop putting yourself down because you are really good. Your voice actually reminds me of Leona Lewis. A lot. So yes you are a really great singer and just trust your voice.
