Singing/Playing Guitar?

I want to start a band. However, first I want to learn how to sing whole I play guitar. How can I teach myself this? Thanks.

Practice, practice, practice. That's all there really is to it.

You have to be confident in your strumming and picking ability before you start to focus on singing. Your guitar playing should flow naturally without much thought. And that requires practice.

Practice your guitar part until you can play it without having to think about it too much; then you can keep the guitar part going while you focus most of your attention on your singing.  

That's what works for me.
