  1. You feel that way, because the thoughts of what you must look like outweigh the enjoyment of the character you are playing or the emotions of the song.

Get immersed in the song or the character so much that you don't realise the people watching.

  2. WE HAVE THE SAME CASE. :)) Haha. Anyway. I think that concentrating on your thing will help you achieve what you want. Just do what you want to do and don't mind the other people around you. Maybe you can close your eyes, or something.

  3. hey there do you do all the vocal warm ups??? cos that can help with releasing tention other than that try closing your eyes or looking up at the ceiling this always helps or imagin they are not there it works it really does be for you go on stage sit aside and get in a zone of soloness

  4. Just go for it!

Invent your alter-ego! I perform every weekend with a band as the lead singer and i have confidence issues too. As soon as the first song starts up, i'm someone else! People are there to see YOU. People aren't as bad as you think!!!

What have really got to be afraid of if you can sing? Be proud of your voice, show them what you can do and kick them all to the ground when you do it!

Before you go on stage, look in the mirror, and shout to yourself, YEAH!!! Do a few jumps, get the energy pumping. You'll be suprised how well you'll do and once you realise the, you'll have adrenelin pumping through and you won't want to stop!!

  5. stare at a wall at the back of the theater or wherever.  you don't need to look at the people (but don't close your eyes lol).  try convincing yourself you're alone, maybe it'll help.  i'm not a great singer but i'm really into theater so when i needa try out for the musicals and ****, i just get up there and do it! even though i don't have a great voice.  you apparently do, so just believe in it!  good luck.

  6. Definitely make sure that you warm up properly before singing - partly so your voice is at its best (which might help you feel more confident) and partly so you feel fully prepared.

Apart from that...I suggest building up the amount of people you have to sing in front of. Try singing a few pieces just in front of your parents, a couple of family members, or a few good friends - they'll know that if you go wrong it's just due to nerves, so there's no need to worry! If you do it every so often, you'll start getting used to it.

On the other hand, you might find it less nerve-wracking to sing to someone you don't know. I assume since you go to a stage school you probably have singing lessons already, but if you don't, you should do. Just getting used to singing out loud every week in front of someone really helped me overcome my nerves. You could ask the teacher to let you sing one piece to the next pupil coming in, just to get the hang of singing to strangers?
