lots of agencies let singles adopt. Different state rules require marriage though.

A lot of international adoptions can be done for a single parent.  Be warned, they are expensive!

There are lots of agencies that work with single parents.    Start with the Department of Children and Families in your state.  Most state programs are happy to work with singles.  There are also several countries that allow singles to adopt internationally.   The following agencies have programs for singles:

WACAP (www.wacap.org)
