I am 27 and planning my first European trip by myself, If you had the choice would you go to Venice or Paris. I simply cannot decide. January is the only time I can go.

  1. I was quite surprised at how small Venice is.....if you were only there for a couple of days then Venice. Its really only a large town and for me had less to offer than some places, but some of the things there were quite neat ( eg Doge's Palace, and just the canals)

I found that Paris for me offered the most to see and do than any other city I visited......I spent 5 full days and still did not see everything I wanted......if you had a longer time ( eg 3+) then go to Paris....... I went to Paris in Feb ( by myself) and while it was cool it was not really cold.....it might be overcast in both places ( but I hear it rains a lot in Venice...i know I had a thunderstorm in April when I went)....

  2. Unless you are a total **** and hate showering I would chose Venice.

  3. I may be biased because Venice is my favorite city in the world.  I think the tides tend to be higher in the winter so the city floods with the high tides more during the winter (which is very interesting, dramatic and somewhat romantic).  It will not be as crowded as during the summer which is nice since many of the areas are narrow.

I personally do not like Paris as much.  In my general opinion, people are not as nice or friendly.  Also, especially during the summer it can be very smelly (which, I think, is why perfume is so popular in France).  The city itself is ok- has good museums and sites, but doesn't have as much charm as Venice.

  4. If you go for few days go to Venice, If your go for longer go to Paris. In Paris you have more things to do and visit. Venice is wonderful but you don´t need more than 3 days to visit all.

  5. I've been to Paris alone three times now and I LOVE that city!

Been to Italy several times, but never alone, so I can't compare.

  6. I have always wanted to go to Italy.

    That's my opinion.

    So, Venice.

  7. I have been to both and I honestly think Paris would be better.  Both are wonderful but I think you would meet more people and make more friends in Paris, as Venice is very touristy (went there last summer).  With Venice you would obviously walk over many bridges, and do the Gondola thing, whereas in Paris there´s the Champs Elysees, the Louvre, Montmartre (Artist district), Moulin Rouge, Eiffel Tower and just getting lost is fun.  I think for a single girl, go with Paris.  When you´re married go to Venice.

    Either way, Have Fun!
