Question:

Single celled organisms?

Why is there a fundie obsession with "single celled organisms"...

Also, it seems like there is a lot of confusion about single celled organisms... for example, it seems fundies don't know that:

1) There are many levels of single celled organism, they may or may not have: nuclei, mitochondria, or membrane-bound organs

2) Some single celled organisms will transform into multi-celled organisms under certain conditions, or as part of their life cycle

3) Evolution did not start with single-celled organisms (shocker, I know... please, let that sink in for a moment)

Really - what is the obsession with them?

  2. They also undergo replication.

  3. You seem to be the only one obsessed here.

  4. Also, they seem to think that the earliest cells must have been as complex as the cells that exist today, and they use this assumption to bolster their ridiculous complexity/probability argument.

They neglect to realize that "single-celled organisms" have been subject to three billion years or so of evolution, just like everything else.
