  1. It means the malts (malted barley grain) in the bottle came from a single distillery

  2. Single distillery, and completely made from a single type of grain, traditionally barley.

    The End.

  3. It means that the Scotch (short for "Scotch Whisky") is made exclusively from malted  barley, and produced from a single distillery.

Some people mistakenly think that if there's "single malt" then there must be "double malt" and so on.  This isn't the case.  Other types of Scotch are "Pure Malt" (made exclusively from malted barley, but a blend from different distilleries.  Sometimes called "vatted malt"), and "blended" (made from a variety of grains and from a variety of distilleries).

No matter what type of Scotch it is, it must be made exclusively in Scotland and aged a minimum of 3 years before it can legally be called "Scotch."

  4. Many scotches are blended. A art all in itself. But a single malt in my opinion is by far much better and comes in a variety of tastes, colors, aromas...and its hard to choose just one. Single malt scotch is truly a product of the environment. Try a few different from the highlands, then a few from the lowlands and then a few from the Islay (Scottish island) and my personal favorite Ardbeg or Laphroaig

    Cheers
