  1. First of all ignore the first post....GST is now 5%.  But NO it is not a lot of money.  People make it on less I know for sure but it is not a great living...if it was take home that would be different.  I live outside of TO and work in TO....if you have no need to commute anywhere then you can OK but that is all.  On 36k it will be tough to get ahead.

  2. You make 36,000 a year? It should be able to suffice, but remember there is a very high cost of living in Canada... food is more exp, gas prices are crazy high, and there are a lot more taxes. But they are both really nice cities so if you are up to it go for it!

  3. Parts of Vancouver...maybe.  Not Toronto- the cost of living is way too high.

You might be okay living outside the GTA, but no chance in the city or surrounding 'burbs.

  4. Most people who live in Toronto (and anywhere else really) don't make three grand a month.

You can live very comfortably (at least coming from someone who thinks $12/hr is a nice wage) making what you do.

  5. If that's what you have to live on after income tax is paid, you're fine. It won't buy you a lot of luxury but you'll have no trouble paying for what you need to pay for. Figure $1000/month for rent(apartment) another $500 if you have a car, $2-300 for groceries. If that's a before tax amount, you can live on it but things may be a bit tight sometimes. You might be able to buy an apartment if you go out into the suburbs but you probably can't afford a house, renting or buying.
