I am 20 years old with a 5 month old daughter. I am a Puerto Rican / Italian single mother and i reside with my parents. I am looking for financial aid and grants (no loans) to get me through school. I want to study Psychological Pharmacology. I am 2 years in at the local college and i have been going full time not only to complete school quickly but to keep my and my daughters medical insurance. My parents have been paying for my tuition because i cannot seem to find any help. Based on their combined income, i do not apply for most help, but they do not consider the expenses! I also train problem horses for no cost for people like me in bad financial situations. I also help sell horses for people who cannot afford them any longer. The only money i take is what ever gas i put in my tank to get there which is at MOST $20. I was wondering where i should go from here! I'm a good person, clean record, never been in a bit of trouble, and i would really like to further my education!

  1. You have a daughter and income so you should be considered independent and NOT required to list your folks income on the fafsa (federal financial aid) application.  Be sure when you do it for next year you answer the dependency questions correctly so you aren't listing your parents income.

You could get financial aid even in the form of grants because you are low income single mother.
