Single parent adoption & knowing you are ready?

Question

I'm considering moving ahead with a single parent adoption. I feel like I'm emotionally ready and I know the two years or so before receiving a child would allow me to save more, etc. I'm in my 30's and have a recession proof job.

How did you know as a single parent that you were confident moving forward with the process? I'm having trouble making the final call.
