* I've just turned 17 this past april.

* I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant, expecting early september.

*single

* Currently a Junior in H.S. but will be taking an exam which is equivalent to a Diploma.

-Assuming I pass this test in June I will be out of highschool with my Certificate of proficiency and will not have to go to school anymore. I will no longer need a job permit from school either.

I've been interested in Online College classes. (maybe reg classes when my baby is old enough for child care)

Does anyone recommend any schools that offer classes online? maybe a school that has services for people that might be in my situation..

um, i'm not too sure of what my options are.. i dont know how i'm even going to pay for college while having to take care of a child and maintaining a job (which is why i'm interested in online classes).. how much do classes cost? anyone offer me any good advice and extra information of what i can do? it would be highly appreciated

  1. There are several online colleges available.  I am currently attending Everest online.  There is also University of Phoenix.  One thing to remember, make sure they are accredited with a regional accreditation.  It is easier to transfer credits from regionally accredited schools than from nationally accredited ones.

    I suggest doing a web search for online colleges.  Then call the numbers and ask as many questions as you can.  The school will be able to help you figure out financial aid and a payment plan.  Some questions to ask may be:

    What kind of degree they offer.

    How long will it take to complete your degree?

    If the books are shipped to you or if they are online.

    How much books cost.

    What each class requires.

    Are there finals.

    etc...

    At Everest there are no finals, only unit tests.  We are required to participate in group discussions and team projects.  So far, all of my professors have been very helpful.  The program is easy to follow, and they arrange the online classroom well.

    As far as having a baby and going to school, I won't lie; it is going to be tough.  I have two children that I home school.  That takes a lot of my time.  I find time to do my school work mostly at night though.  When your baby is first born, he/she will sleep a lot.  This will give you the opportunity to get some studying in.  Just take things one day at a time, and never give up.  You will do great things!
