HI all,

Some of my Indian friends at work have recommended I travel around India. I have the money to do so, but I don't have a companio - in any case I prefer to travel alone.

I have had some good advice about keeping money aside for bribes, and not going to restaurants or bars alone, and hiring a driver, rather than taking taxis.

I'm looking at going to Dehli, Chennai, Kerala, and Bihar, where my friend is from.

Is it safe for me to travel in India? Any advice?

  1. good luck

  2. You are most werlcome to my country India. Before I answer let me assure you that there are more good people than bad in every society. Here we are concerned to cope with bad people who get more prominence through media. If you want to avoid them do as what an Indian woman do.

    1) Limit your sight seeing between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at any city or town.

    2) Dress yourself hiding every part of your body except your face.

    3) Don't pay attention or talk to any male. Enquire to an elder man.

    4) Don't stay at Bars after 8 p.m.

    5) Hotels charging Rs 800 or more for single room are safe.

    6) Hire a car from reputed firms like Hertz etc.

    7) For City sightseeing the Govt. operated  tours are safe.

    8) You bribe only when you require any out of turn favour. Otherwise a big No.

    9) In Bihar imitate Japanese tourist, Join them if possible.

Finally Dress sense and timings are important to take as precautionery measures anywhere in Asia if a single woman whether White, Brown or Black is travelling.

Have nice and safe journey through our beautiful country.

    6. Ask your hotel to arrange your transport.

    7. If you need to ask the way - let your driver do it for you.

    8. Use your common sense and you will have a great time.

  5. First I can say welcome to India,

No need to worry, so many white woman are coming here,

    Dont roam in mid nights..

    Wish you good luck.

  6. delhi chennai and kerala are relatively safer - like most parts of the world.  in delhi be careful traveling alone post sunset.

bihar is the texas of india - the wild wild west - be very careful there.

as far as restaurants and bars are concerned, go to decent places and no problems (not in bihar though). having a car with driver is better because u get it thru an agency.  bribes?? not really needed unless u r dealing with the govt and need some application processed or something
