Sinisa Mihajlovic reveals why he left Catania; plans to play Adrian Mutu
When Catania host Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A on Sunday October 31, it will mark the return of Fiorentina manager Sinisa Mihajlovic to his former club where he says he left for family reasons.
In an interview with Sky on Thursday, Mihajlovic said:
"I have fond memories of my experiences with the Etnei. I took over the team in last place and we slowly collected a long series of important results. We defeated Inter, as well as Fiorentina and Palermo, and won against Lazio in Rome establishing a new club
record for points in Serie A.
"I was very satisfied with my time there. I left because my family could not move to Catania and I received significant offers."
Mihajlovic has also revealed that Romanian midfielder Adrian Mutu, who has not seen action in nine months, while serving a doping ban after failing two tests back in January, should be in the lineup for Fiorentina.
"Mutu is very important for us. With his personality, character and class he can help us make the step up, but he has not played for 10 months and so we have to take this into account," Mihajlovic said in an interview
with Il Corriere dello Sport.
"I will decide, he is well, he has been training and cannot wait to play. He will surely play the game, but I don't know whether he will start or come on as a substitute."
Struggling Fiorentina will be looking for anything that might be able to provide them with a lift as they currently sit in the bottom third of the table only one point off the bottom with eight points in eight games.
Their next opponents, Catania, are not much further ahead with a mere nine points from eight games.
