Question:

Sinus infection with no drainage?

I went to the dr yesterday and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I've been having pain behind my eyes (I went to the eye dr last month because I thought I just had eye strain. He said my eyeglass prescription changed a little bit, but he wondered if I had a sinus infection. But I have no drainage whatsover. He said it's completely possible to have a sinus infection with no drainage.) and a headache. I'm fine when I first wake up in the morning, but within an hr, my head begins to hurt somewhat. My shoulders and neck ache (no stiff neck at all, just achy), sometimes the back of my head. And it just continues to get worse. Seems like sometimes it eases up a little bit only to come right back. Then as the day progresses, I start to feel a tad bit nauseated. Not enough to keep me from eating, but just a bit "blah". So here's my question: if I do, in fact, have a sinus infection, are there any home remedies to help open my sinuses to allow the infection to drain? I know of numerous things to do to alleviate a STUFFY nose, but my nose is not stuffy! lol 400mg of Motrin doesnt make the headache go away.I can breathe free and clear. The dr put me on Bactrim and Flonase. I'm a worrier and my anxiety over all of this isn't helping; I know it's only making it worse. I'm even wondering if there actually isnt an infection and I'm just experiencing stress related symptoms. (The past 2-3 wks I have been under TREMENDOUS stress) I would really appreciate any words of wisdom.

  1. I also get the headache and nausea from time to time without any sneezing of stuffiness.  I take a decongestant and some advil and feel sooo much better in about 30 minutes.

I have found the best is mucinex and you can buy the store brand for much less.  I recommend trying this and seeing if you feel much better !   good luck
