  1. The draining is a symptom of some other problem and should be addressed, but the draining can be stopped by any over the counter med that has guaifenesin in it.  This will stop the draining and help get what has drained out of the lungs.  Dextromethorphan is a good help with guaifenesin.  Most Robitussin has these combined.
