Siobhan-Marie O’Connor pockets Women’s 200m IM gold: Day one – 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals
Siobhan-Marie O’Connor of Bath University pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on primary day of the 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals in Sheffield, England on Wednesday, June 20.
O’Connor remained considerably faster from her following swimmers throughout the event and made her way to the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her epic pace, she stifled hopes of her challengers and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.86 seconds.
The champion was followed by her teammate, Stacey Tadd, who remained almost four seconds apart and cruised her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.39 seconds for silver medal.
The silver medallist was followed by Lucy Spencer of Co Sheffield, who was only 0.05 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and made her way to the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 15.44 seconds for third position.
Fourth spot of the discipline was secured by Danielle Lowe of Millfield, who suffered a deficit of only 0.06 seconds and cruised her way towards the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 15.50 seconds.
Similarly, Lowe remained in a lead of 1.24 seconds over Karley Mann of Seabyrd, who proved her eligibility for fifth position by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 16.74 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was secured by Kate Hutchinson of Loughborough University, who stayed 1.06 seconds apart and tapped the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 17.80 seconds.
Hutchinson was chased by Zara Bailey of Co Peterborough, who finished seventh in the 200m discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 17.95 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Chloe Tutton of Co Cardiff, who remained 0.59 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.54 seconds.
Furthermore, O’Connor was delighted with her accomplishment in the IM discipline and articulated that she will try her level best to make her country proud at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
