  1. The word "scam" comes to mind the minute you mention this!

Firstly, the postcode loterij is a Dutch lottery for Dutch postal addresses, plus you have to pay to enter.  I guess you do not live in NL and nor have you entered.  Therefore if you don't enter a lottery then you don't win it

Secondly if you have won money then why do you have to pay money!  This is a famous scam - check on google under "Advance Fee Fraud". - Probably they have asked you to pay by Western Union or Moneygram right?  The scammer's best friends as there is no recourse.  Western Union even warn about this scam on their website http://www.westernunion.co.uk/web-inf/pd...

This question has come up several times before e.g.

If you are still doubtful then you can contact the Postbank, but it is in Dutch http://www.postbank.nl/ing/pp/page/frame...

@ U_S_S_Enterprise's Profile  - you are right!  At least they don't seem to do much to actually prevent it anyway.... although I'm guessing the main benefactor is some crafty little guy (or group of) sitting somewhere in Nigeria counting his cash!

  2. Yes, there is a postcode loterij, and yes, there is a postbank.

But - they NEVER do an email lottery of ANY kind.

The postbank is like any other bank you can think of.

The Postcode Loterij is a subscription based lottery - that does NOTHING via email (except send newsletters).

I`m afraid you didn`t win anything - but have received a spam email.

Check out the mailinglist in the link below - there are multiple examples in the archives there - and most likely also the one you received. The archives are freely readable for all.
