Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has urged his players to prove their greatness by winning the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League final.
United will take on Barcelona in the final of the Champions League on May 28, 2011, at Wembley Stadium. The two teams locked horns in the final of the 2008/09 competition as well and the Catalans emerged victorious by a 2-0 score at that time.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s current squad has received criticism for lacking the panache to win trophies. The Red Devils have proved the critics wrong by winning the 2010/11 English Premier League and the Scot has urged the players to try their best to beat Barcelona and prove that United are still the best team in the world.
Talking to the reporters, Ferguson said, "Beating Barcelona would end all arguments about this team – exactly. That’s their challenge at Wembley. I know we’re playing a terrific team, but would you back against us in a big way? I don’t think you would. We’re capable of doing very well in the final. There’s nothing wrong with accepting challenges, we’re very good at that.”

"It doesn’t matter where the challenges come from; you have to stand up to the mark. And this side doesn’t give in, that’s their great quality." Added the longstanding manager
Sir Alex refused to compare his current squad with the some of his previous title winning teams. The 69-year-old added that all the teams had their own qualities and this team’s quality was that it had so many young players. The former Aberdeen manager believes that the current success will boost the youngsters, who have won the silverware for the first time and they will know what it takes to become champions with the club.
United have won the double in 1994 and 2008 and have also won a historic treble in 1999. Ferguson admitted that all the teams rose well to the challenges laid in fornt of tem. The Scot believes that the youngsters have adapted very well to acclimatise themselves at the club and they are learning under the shadows of veterans like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173.
