Michael Owen, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Real Madrid striker, has been plagued with injuries for the last 5 years. His time at Real Madrid and, later, Newcastle was marred by an unfortunately long term of injuries, and even at the 2006 world cup he came back
with an injury while playing for England. Owen joined Manchester United at the start of the last season on a free transfer when his contract with Newcastle ended. Once again, he has been hounded by some unfortunate injuries, and is ready to make yet another
comeback.
United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has not directly talked to Owen about his future at the club, but the manager said that the English striker has a big part to play at United. Most of the current season has been spent in medical rooms at old Trafford by
Owen, but he says that he is finally ready to make his presence felt again.
Owen came on to play as a substitute against Stoke on Tuesday and that was just his 4th appearance this season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 signed the contract for 2 seasons, and he would be out of a job at the end of the current season if he does not get an extension. Looking at the way things are at the club, it is unlikely that he would be offered an extension unless he comes
up with something spectacular before the end of the season. Currently, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736
just signed a 5 year extension. Young striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Macheda-c13475, who is also fighting for a place in the team.
Michael Owen has finally recovered from the unfortunate injury that he suffered during the final of the Carling Cup last season, and Ferguson is confident that the player will soon deliver.
Ferguson said:
"Now that he is back fit, Michael will always be considered part of the squad and he will play in some big games. I have not spoken to him about next season. There is no need for me to discuss that at the moment... He is a terrific player and a role model
in the dressing room. He has never missed a session while he has been fit."
It was the return to full fitness of Owen that prompted Ferguson to accept the request of Macheda to go on a loan move. Macheda is expected to go to Sampdoria which is in Italy while Ferguson had made it clear that he wanted Macheda to stay in England. Ferguson
said that Macheda told him that due to lack of game time at United, he was not getting any attention from the Italian national team, so it was better to send him away on loan. He admitted that initially he did not want the youngster to go outside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749,
but since he would be playing in Italy, he would have a great chance of making it to the national team.
