The Manchester United manager has called on his players to get off to a flying start regardless of the fact that they face a Monday night opening day encounter against Everton on the very first match of their Premier League
campaign in August...
Manchester United’s veteran manager has made his position clear to his players that he wants Manchester United to get off to a flying start to their new Premier League campaign next season as they are set to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 on a Monday
night fixture in their opening encounter. Sir Alex’s men have traditionally been strong at the start of the league season but their peak form comes after the Christmas season in the second half of the Premier League campaign.
Nonetheless, Manchester United will hope that they can avoid any hiccups especially on the first day of the new season given that they are set to play after the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Arsenal and Manchester City have already played
their opening fixtures of the season.
Manchester United did well in the last league season but failed to retain their league crown as they finished level on points with Manchester City. The Red Devils lost the league title on goal difference and therefore their priority
will be to bank on any goal scoring opportunities that come their way.
Sir Alex said, "The Monday night start doesn’t bother me. That’s not a big factor. The fact it’s Everton away holds much more weight. It’s a tough fixture and we’ve not found it easy there in recent years, despite some good results.
We can’t complain, though. We had a tough start last season, too.
He added, "We played Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea very early and ended up getting off to a flyer. We’ll be aiming to do the same this year." Manchester United will play Everton on Monday, 20th of August, 2012.
