Sir Alex Ferguson admits to Alexis Sanchez admiration
According to the
News of the World, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has affirmed his admiration for Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez. Fergie admitted, “We have looked at Sanchez and he has impressed us.”
The Scot went on to declare it was just interest at the moment, and a bid for the player isn’t yet in the pipeline. “He has had very good games and is an interesting project. We have gathered
some background, as with other footballers at his level, but nothing more than this - for the moment,” explained the former Aberdeen manager.
Sanchez would certainly fit the bill at Old Trafford, with the side crying out for some pace and trickery down the flanks. With Nani improving, but still an inconsistent figure, and Antonio
Valencia sidelined for the best part of the season, United is left short in wide areas. Sanchez, meanwhile, would offer pace aplenty and his directness and aptness at getting balls into the box would be of huge benefit United’s play.
The Chilean had an impressive World Cup in South Africa this summer, with the young Chile squad only falling to the might of Brazil in the last 16.

At just 22 years of age, Sanchez represents an excellent investment for the next eight years or so. He also has plenty of experience for one so young, having featured regularly for Udinese
for the past few seasons, as well as a wealth of experience on the international stage at various levels. Comparisons have even been drawn between the player and a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, who starred for Manchester between 2003 and 2009, but whether Sanchez
could genuinely reach the levels the Portuguese winger reached remains to be seen.
