Sir Alex Ferguson backs Wayne Rooney to start scoring
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has full faith in striker Wayne Rooney to find the green patch in goal scoring, after finally ending his 9 month open play goal drought.
The player, who scored 34 times last season, didn’t score a goal since March 2010 but finally ended this embarrassing record when he scored a soft header against West Bromwich Albion. Ferguson would want the player to face Liverpool in the FA Cup match,
as Rooney brings a lot more to the game than goal scoring.
It was unfortunate for Rooney to miss the home win against Stoke City this week owing to an ankle concern, but Ferguson wants the player back for the Liverpool tie. A win against the Reds may be the killing blow for manager Roy Hodgson, who has been under-fire
due to a string of poor results.
The manager believes that the goal against West Bromwich would bring back the Rooney who was feared by all European clubs. The player was almost flawless in his finishing last season and managed to disrupt some of the top sides in Europe which include the
likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and AC Milan.
"Wayne was buzzing last week. That is why I am keen to have him in the team and why I will give him every chance to be fit. Many times Wayne has gone on good runs. He'd score five in a row and then maybe go three or four without scoring,” claimed the Manchester
United manager.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 has had a troubled season this year. The player who couldn’t stop scoring failed to make an impact on this summer’s FIFA World Cup. This was followed by allegations about his private life, which greatly unsettled the player emotionally. To top
it off, Rooney had expressed his desire to leave Manchester United permanently, shocking one and all in the premier league. However, as the dust settled, all things were resolved and Rooney began a long journey back to get himself back to his fantastic self.
A rejuvenated Wayne Rooney was seen, when he made his comeback after a long injury concern and the player seemed more dedicated than ever towards the club. Rooney showed amazing unselfishness along with brilliant work rate as he was seen everywhere on the
field, whether it be with assisting the strikers for goal or tracking back to win back possession. The weight of goal scoring was borne by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254, however, it wasn’t until Rooney returned to the game that the Bulgarian started scoring again, which
includes his fantastic five goals against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385.
Ferguson is ready to kick off the FA Cup chase in an emphatic fashion, as the hunger for more silverware continues. However, Ferguson faces a much weaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 than what he is used to in his 25 years at Old Trafford. That, however, doesn't mean a thing,
as he has still chosen to employ his best XI for the game.
The odds were same when the side met Leeds United last season at Old Trafford, but we all know how that turned out. A side battling for Championship promotion managed to outsmart and outthink the manager and Ferguson claimed he felt sick after the defeat.
"It is the first time I had lost a third-round tie since I came to the club and it didn't sit well with me. I did not enjoy it and was sick for a few days afterwards," stated the United boss.
