The Red Devils have been linked with several goalkeepers including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284 but reports in the Spanish media suggested two months back that Sir Alex Ferguson wants Los Rojiblancos’ shot-stopper.
United’s goalkeeping coach, Eric Steele, travelled to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 to monitor the 20-year-old’s progress several times throughout the season and now Ferguson has confirmed that the youngster will be a Red Devil soon.
Talking to the reporters, Ferguson said, “Well we’ve been working on it for quite a while. We identified him quite a while back as one we should go for. He’s a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence; he’s an outstanding replacement to Edwin
van der Sar.”
The 69-year-old revealed that he sees De Gea as an ideal replacement for the Dutchman because he has the similar qualities and is also a very composed figure.
“Of course it does [make things difficult]. But we’re looking at the same types of quality because the one great quality that Edwin always had was his composure and organisational ability and with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 he’s very similar that way.” added the former

Ferguson had revealed last week that the club will have a busy summer in the transfer market and he is looking to add three or four new players to his squad. With De Gea deal almost done, United will now look to concentrate on sealing the deal for their
other transfer targets. Aston Villa midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813, is believed to be the other player Sir Alex wants to sign this summer. Reports suggest that after failing to sign the former Watford star in the January transfer window, the Scot will try to finalise
the deal as soon as possible.
