Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson defends Manchester United’s David De Gea – English Premier League
Sir Alex Ferguson has come out and leapt at the defence of his team’s new young goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 De Gea. The veteran Scotsman has given his new signing confidence through his remarks in the media after Manchester United’s 2-1 win
over Roy Hodgson’s West Bromwich Albion in Manchester United’s first away fixture of the 2011-2012 season. The new English Premier League season has already seen its first goalkeeping howler from De Gea who allowed Shane Long’s drive to creep under him in
the first half of Manchester United’s tie against West Brom.
After his error allowed Manchester City to take a two goal lead in the first half of their Community Shield match up against Manchester United when Edin Dzeko’s long ranger found its way past De Gea as the Spanish shot stopper
was too slow to react to the Bosnian striker’s belter. It remains to be seen whether http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 will improve on his performances or not but Sir Alex along with Manchester United’s fans will be hoping that he does.
De Gea was bought by Manchester United for a hefty transfer fee in the summer from Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Edwin Van der Sar who retired after the 2010-2011 English Premier League season. Ferguson is keen to see De
Gea live up to the fans expectations but the young goalie is under tremendous pressure to perform admirably at Old Trafford week in week out, something that is not realistic at the moment.
Ferguson stated in his post match interview when asked about David De Gea, the Scotsman stated, "He is young. He will learn. He will come through. David's concentration cost him the goal. It was a slack goal to lose but it is an
experience for the lad. I couldn't believe he never got a free-kick in the second-half. The aerial assault on him was ridiculous. It was the same when Peter Schmeichel came. They punished him in his first few games against Leeds and Wimbledon. They have him
a real torrid time.”
Sir Alex went onto say that his goalkeeper was targeted in the second half with physical challenges from the West Bromwich front line and the referee failed to give some due free kicks to United for the unfair challenges on David
De Gea. Manchester United next face off against Tottenham Hotspur on next Monday as Harry Redknapp’s men travel to Old Trafford to begin their 2011-2012 English Premier League season. David De Gea will most probably start for Manchester United and if that
is the case, then he will be making his debut at Old Trafford in the English Premier League.
