Manchester United’s sixth clean sheet of the season has prompted Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson to come out and praise his team’s defensive organization in their 1-0 win against Swansea City on Saturday evening. Manchester United made a long
trip to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 to play the newly promoted Swansea City and managed to come away with all three points thanks to a brilliant display of finishing by Javier Hernandez.
Hernandez pounced on a mistake inside the Swansea penalty area and finished the chance off by slotting the ball past the Swansea City goalkeeper. In the end the Mexican striker’s goal proved to be the difference between the two
teams as the match ended 1-0 in favour of the visiting side. Sir Alex emphasized before the match that United needed to do well on their travels and they did exactly that as they shut up shop after scoring their goal and held on to claim a well fought victory.
Sir Alex’s team next face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League and then take on Newcastle United in the English Premier League at Old Trafford. The Christmas time football period in English football will be a crucial one for Manchester
United because they have several easy fixtures during this time that they will want to gain the most out of.
Sir Alex Ferguson said in his post match press conference, “They [Swansea] have a great home record so that was obviously something we thought about before the game and it meant we had to make sure we defended well. Apart from
that miss they had in the first half where http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 miss-kicked his clearance, other than that, I thought we were comfortable defensively, but they are a good football team and they move the ball well so you are having to concentrate all the time.”
He added that concentration was the key to Manchester United’s win against Swansea which they needed because there was criticism being levelled at their defensive mistakes over the past three to four weeks. Sir Alex will hope that
United retain their current defensive run of form into the new year where they have a concentrated fixture schedule.
