Sir Alex Ferguson has no desire to retire
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he is in no mood to retire from football management any time soon.
Ferguson has said that he stills has the same hunger for the football club that he did on his first day as manager over 20 years ago. He has also revealed that he has no plans to discuss retirement with
the club's chief executive David Gill.
"I'm in no mood for it (retiring). As long as my health is good I intend to carry on.
If my health deteriorated it would be different but retirement is for young people, they can do something else," said Ferguson at a sports congress in Doha.
Ferguson also suggests that the motivation behind not retiring is due to the fact that he does not know what he would do after football. Someone who has a career over three
decades at one club could find it very difficult to adjust to life after football.
"If I get off that treadmill where do you think I'd go, only one way,
down," he added.
The 68-year-old Scot still seems like one of the only managers in global football that controls every aspect of his football club. With new owners coming into the Premier
League every season, he says he is very fortunate that the Glazer family do not get involved with the day to day running of United.
This means he can focus firmly on the team and bringing trophies to Old Trafford, which he is well known for.
"We have a great relationship, they never bother me, they never phone.
They never interfere. What more can you ask for?
I'm in a privileged position. I've heard of English owners texting managers during training sessions," added Ferguson.
"Retirement is for young people. I'm too old to retire," he said.
Betting advice
Manchester United has a brilliant chance of winning every competition the club is involved in this season. A large part of this is down to the manager who continues to
guide his United side through a transitional period. Back them to win in any league, cup or European game.
