Sir Alex Ferguson has no plans to retire
The legendary and long serving manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson claims he has no plans to retire in the near future.
Sir Alex Ferguson recently became the longest serving manager of Manchester United by breaking the record of Sir Matt Busby. Sir Alex Ferguson has now served as manager of Manchester United for 24 years, one month and 15 days.
It is a great achievement for a manager to become the longest serving manager of one of the most successful clubs in the world. Sir Alex Ferguson threatened to quit Manchester United nine years ago but he made a u-turn and continued with Manchester United. It seems like the legendary manager has no plans of leaving Old Trafford in the immediate future.
Sir Alex Ferguson told Manchester United’s official website, "The older you get the more worried you are about retiring. You start to realise that whilst you have got your health and good fitness, you should carry on in your job. All thoughts of retirement are in the back of my mind. It [talking of leaving] was a mistake. At the time there were some reasons for it. It was one of those things".
Moreover, Sir Alex has had his share of difficult decisions to make during his long and fruitful career. The most recent one was leaving out Manchester United’s inform striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 after Berba had recently scored five goals.
The legendary manager of Manchester United said that management is about making decisions. He added that sometimes these decisions are positive and good and sometimes these decisions back-fire.
Sir Alex explained, "Picking teams for instance. We made the decision the other night to leave Berbatov out of the team. It was not an easy one and was very difficult to explain. The only way I could do that was by saying I felt it was going to win us the match. Although it was proved right you are never sure".
Furthermore, Manchester United assistant coach, Mike Phelan has hailed his head manager for surpassing the record of Sir Matt Busby and becoming the longest-serving manager at Old Trafford.
Mike Phelan hailed Sir Alex Ferguson’s character and told Manchester United’s official website that it is an incredible achievement for anybody to be at the club for 24 years. He further stated that Sir Alex Ferguson’s enthusiasm and his commitment with the club is extraordinary.
Mike Phelan added, "He is youthful, has a young mind, and he's always willing to learn. But he’s always lived knowing that to achieve anything you have to work at it and put the hours in. He’s certainly done that. You see signs of that every day".
