Sir Alex Ferguson’s chat improved Berbatov
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that his pre-season talk with Dimitar Berbatov has enabled the Bulgarian to shine the brightest in the English Premier League.
The Bulgarian striker is in red hot form this season as the player has already scored 6 times in 7 premier league appearances so far this season. Berbatov is a transformed player from what he was last season and has become an integral part of Manchester
United’s title bid this season. Dimitar joined the Red Devils back in 2008 for a record 32.5 million pounds, but failed to live up to expectations as well as his price tag. However, Berbatov has become somewhat of a fan favourite this season as the player
netted an unforgettable hatrick against Liverpool. That hatrick was the first by a Manchester United player in nearly 54 years and is one of the best players in terms of form this season. Berbatov currently tops the premier league rankings in terms of highest
goals scored.
The manager has now revealed that it was perhaps his words of wisdom that turned things around for the 29-year-old striker.
"I told him that, ‘look, only you can solve this conundrum. You're the one in control here. You've got fantastic ability and you need to realise that ability and make the most of it. We'll be here to support you'”, were Ferguson's exact words for the Bulgarian.
Ferguson continued by saying that there has been no stopping Berbatov since the start of the season who was the very best attacker in the side at the moment. The manager explained that life is hard for any player who joins Manchester United owing to the limitless
expectations and the amount of work rate a club like United expects from the newly signed player.
"When you bring a player to Manchester United, not everybody takes to the situation straight away." Not all signings become hits overnight. "(Antonio) Valencia did, of course, but he's almost an exception. Others take time, and Dimitar was a bit like that.
It's just a fact,” claimed the 69-year-old manager.
The manager added that no one in the entire outfit ever questioned the ability of the 29-year-old but the thing that has changed is that Berbatov has started playing with self belief and confidence.
"All strikers are massively reliant on those two factors - belief and confidence. And at the moment Berbatov has both,” explained Sir Alex Ferguson
Dimitar Berbatov took retirement from international football this season as the player has vowed to turn things around with his current club. For Berbatov to be playing for Manchester United was a dream come true for the Bulgarian and he wished to stay there
for as long as he could. With Wayne Rooney being out of form this season, Berbatov has stepped up and over shadowed the English international.
Sir Alex Ferguson looks forward to playing the in-form striker in most of the coming fixtures and his combination with Nani and Scholes has become one of the most lethal combos. Manchester United are currently 5 points behind defending champions Chelsea
and are looking for their first win of the season on the away leg.
