Sir Alex hails Javier Hernandez’ work ethic
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Javier Hernandez for his work ethic after the striker booked his club’s place in the next round of the League Cup.
The Mexico international came off the bench to thump in a 90th-minute winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday, 26 October. That goal followed his match-winning exploits against Stoke City in the
English Premier League on Saturday, where he netted twice.
His goal-scoring feats have led to him being hailed as the club’s newest star by the fans and media, but Ferguson has insisted that the 22-year-old can get even better. The Red Devils boss told
Sky Sports that the youngster was working hard on the training ground to improve.
He said that: "He's such a great professional, he's first in, last out the training ground every day and his goal-scoring is getting a lot of credit and praise and quite rightly.
"When he came on you just knew that if he gets a chance he's going to take it. His touch and control of the ball is improving, his vision is improving and that's because the training is intense and we care
about our training and make sure our players do improve."
Meanwhile, Ferguson took the time to highlight fellow summer arrival Bebe, who also scored against Wolves in his first start for the club. The Scot revealed that he thought the 20-year-old Portuguese prospect
had a big future ahead of him.
He said that: "(His goal) was a bit fortunate, but he did the right thing. He attacked the defender and it was either going to be a really good cross or as it turned out, deflected into the net.
"I think everyone at the club is very positive about that [the future]. We work really hard at producing our players and they are the foundation of our club."
