Sir Alex not troubled by Rooney’s goal drought
Last season, Wayne Rooney was considered by many to be the best player in the English Premier League. The England international was scoring seemingly at will, finishing the season with 34 goals in all competitions. Rooney suffered a slight ligament injury
in March during the Champions League match against Bayern Munich. That was the point where it all started to go downhill for the striker. Even though Rooney was out for only 3 weeks, he looks like a shadow of his former self. Rooney has failed to score a single
goal from open play since his recovery.
His goalless streak continued yesterday during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford. Rooney once again failed to get his name on the scoresheet. especially since Rooney’s spectacular decline in form. Berbatov has now increased his tally to 13 goals in the current season, making him the top goalscorer in the League at this point. Rooney is not even in the top 10.

This season, Wayne Rooney has been grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons. The striker was at the center of controversy after reports of adultery surfaced. More recently, Rooney’s future at Manchester United came under speculation when it was revealed
