  12. I don't think we can call it a "lost battle" - Sir Bobby has lived with, managed and beaten cancer for very many years.

But time always catches up - we all have to go at some stage, exit left - and a time has to come.

None of us live forever, but memories and legends often do.

  13. Heard about this hours ago , yet the footie media and fans in this country are too busy talking about Ronaldo....How can a greedy overpaid prima-donna be given more news time than a football great...One Bobby Robson, there's only one Bobby Robson...From a West Brom fan

  14. A very very sad day for football.

The man is a living legend.

    I'm feeling pretty sad now.

  15. He even came over to help Ireland out with Staunton when he was still a bit ill. A true legend, he may still get through it, if history has told us anything

Edit : Cheers for the Thumb down - whoever did it. You are a noble human being

  16. Lots of great memories, and he even stayed loveable as he got a bit absent during recent years. My favourite story about him when he was managing Newcastle was during a book signing for his autobiography. A young Toon lad asked Sir Bobby to sign his copy and asked him if he'd had many fans asking for autographs that day. "Hundreds, son, hundreds" came the reply as he signed. When the lad got outside and looked in the book, the message read "Best wishes, Bobby Hundreds".

    The man is a legend.
